What was described as a "spontaneous" anti-ICE protest in Austin had organized groups mobilizing within hours of the shooting of a Venezuelan man.
A Fox News Digital investigation found the Democratic Socialists of America, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization promoted the demonstration through established national and Texas networks. About four hours after the shooting, activists were already at the scene as the crowd grew and confrontations with police unfolded.
The mobilization continued into Monday, when activists issued another call for "BOOTS ON THE GROUND" at a detention center.

🔴 They Spent Three Centuries Buying People Back
THE MISSION
Founded in 1198 with the Pope's blessing, the Trinitarian Order existed for one purpose: raising money to ransom Christian captives held in North Africa. A separate order, the Mercedarians, did the same work, focused mainly on Morocco. Members of both orders vowed to give up a portion of their own income specifically for this cause.
THE JOURNEY
Small groups of monks sailed directly into Barbary ports carrying chests of gold. They faced real danger doing it — disease, hostile treatment, and negotiations with corsair captains who held all the leverage. Some of the monks never made it home.
THE SCALE
Over roughly three centuries, the Trinitarian Order alone is estimated to have ransomed close to 90,000 people. One of them was a young Spanish soldier named Miguel de Cervantes, ransomed in 1580 after nearly five years enslaved in Algiers. He later wrote Don Quixote and, at his death, was buried in a Trinitarian habit in gratitude.
WHAT'S LEFT
The system had a dark irony built into it. The huge ransoms paid out by these orders gave corsairs an even stronger financial incentive to keep capturing more people in the first place.

Over the past two centuries, living standards have improved dramatically thanks to greater freedom, openness, trade, and innovation.
